Why not give your best collectors every account?
Two reasons: your best collectors run out of hours, and best is an average. Each account should go to the collector best placed with that consumer.

Why not give your best collectors every account? There are two reasons.
First, they run out of hours. A top collector can only work so many accounts a day, so most accounts still go to whoever is next.
Second, best is an average. Collector A tops the board on fresh, high-balance accounts. Collector B sits mid-table, but does best on aged, low-balance ones. Route by rank, and the aged accounts lose the collector who suited them. And when the easiest accounts go to the top of the board, newer and middling collectors get the hardest work. They see less success, earn less commission, and look weaker than they are.
Each account should go to the collector best placed with that consumer, not to the top of the leaderboard.

Would it be a bad idea to spend 45 minutes finding out?
If your shop does not qualify, you will hear it on the call, not after you have paid for a report.
