How do you get sales agents to accept a new lead allocation system?
Change as little as possible on the agent’s screen, decide how and when you tell your team, and show agents that their lead volume and pay rules stay as they are. Predictive pairing arrives as the same lead list in the same dialer or CRM; only which leads are on it changes. Managers make it stick by making sure agents work the lead they were given.
New to BestPair? See what it is and how it works
Why agents push back
Floor managers tell BestPair the same worries again and again.
- Another app. Agents already juggle a dialer, a CRM and chat. A new screen gets ignored.
- It feels like tracking. Independent-minded agents distrust anything that scores them.
- Fear of losing good leads. Top performers assume the system will take their best work away.
- Glitches become the excuse. One early bug, and the tool gets the blame for every missed target.
- Managers are not on board. If team leaders doubt it, agents learn to work around it.
Each of these has a plain answer, and most of the work is giving it before the first week rather than after.
Keep the agent’s day the same
With predictive pairing there is no new app for agents. On agent-owned lists the assignments load into the dialer or CRM the way lists load today. On a predictive dialer the change sits in the dialer’s skills-based router, and agents take calls as before. What changes is which leads land in each agent’s list. Your scripts and offers stay yours. People make every call, and BestPair never contacts anyone.
Answer the fairness question first
- Volume. Each agent’s volume stays where you set it, and work spreads across the floor instead of piling on a few people.
- Top performers. Talk it through with them before the start. The control group shows whether their results hold up.
- Pay. Your commission plan is untouched. Check how the new mix lands on it before the start, and say so.
- No favourites. When the change is measured, leads are split at random, so no one’s results are flattered by easy leads.
Tell agents what it does
How and when you tell your team is your decision. If you do, one sentence is enough: "Each lead goes to the agent who has done best with leads like it, based on our own results." Then say what it does not do. It does not listen to calls, rate effort or attitude, or change what agents say. It reads the sales outcomes the floor already records.
Agents accept a system more readily when they can see what it found about them. Showing each agent the kinds of leads they have closed best is often the moment it clicks. What the matching shows about each agent.
What managers do
- Name one owner. One person on the floor answers questions, fixes problems and reports results.
- Agree the rules before day one. How long an unworked lead stays with an agent, when it is reassigned, and whether swaps are allowed.
- Hold the line on working the lead assigned. How often the assigned agent works the lead decides how much of the gain you see.
- Report both groups to the floor. Share results from the matched leads and the control leads together, good months and flat ones.
Bring regional and team managers in early. When a team leader understands why a lead went to a particular agent, they explain it to the floor better than any vendor can. If results trail at first, here is why that happens.
Common follow-up questions
Will our top performers get worse leads?
Their mix of leads will change. Look at it with them before the start, on your own commission plan. The control group shows whether their results hold up.
Does matching change commissions or bonuses?
Your commission plan stays yours. BestPair changes which leads each agent works. If your plan pays on volume of leads, check how the new mix lands before you start.
What if agents swap leads or cherry-pick?
Then those leads measure your old way of working, and the pilot shows less of the change than it could. Agree the rules on swaps and reassignment before day one, and track how often the assigned agent works the lead.

Would it be a bad idea to spend 45 minutes finding out?
If your shop does not qualify, you will hear it on the call, not after you have paid for a report.
